Cara Tobe 🪴 Louisville DSA 🪴 she/her

Cara is an organizer based in Louisville, Kentucky. Originally from Madison, WI, she lived in France for 5 years before moving to Louisville in 2014. She recently served as a co-chair of Louisville DSA, where she has been a member since joining DSA in 2020. In the chapter, Cara has also previously served as co-chair of the chapter Labor Committee where she led key strike support campaigns in addition to the chapter’s campaign for a Green New Deal for Public Schools. Cara also has served as Communications Director for Tyler Lamon’s campaign for Louisville Metro Council and is currently helping lead the chapter’s Green New Deal campaign to expand public transit in the city. Nationally, Cara is a co-chair of the Green New Deal Campaign Commission and is the commission’s liaison to the National Communications Committee. Cara is also currently organizing alongside comrades from across the country to bring the railroads under public ownership.

Cara also fights in Louisville for police abolition, where she is a leader-member of a small, grassroots organization dedicated to reducing police power by fighting against the Fraternal Order of Police via the collective bargaining agreement with the city. The group recently settled a lawsuit with LMPD over their failure to abide by the Open Records Act which sets precedent for transparency in the city.
